Portfolio Design Process
Our primary business is helping our clients to reach their goals. To be effective, this must be a process rather than a transaction.
Our Process
The first step in our process is to get to know each other and to answer any questions you may have about our business. Through this initial Discovery meeting or teleconference we capture key elements of your goals, present financial situation, and future needs. With these established, we work with you to create a personal investment policy to guide us toward your goals.
Using this framework, we engineer a portfolio to best serve your current and projected needs. After reviewing the plan with you we prepare all account paperwork and implement your portfolio. This is only the beginning of our ongoing portfolio management process but for most clients it is a milestone that brings a sense of satisfaction and relief.
As time passes, your family grows, or your situation changes, this framework and resulting portfolio will be gently adjusted, always with care taken to minimize the impact of taxes and transaction costs. Our clients are able to monitor their assets and progress through regular statements, internet-accessible daily account valuation, and regular telephone or in-office meetings.
Investment Philosophy
Good investing requires a disciplined, scientific approach, but does not need to be complex. We prefer to relieve the stress and confusion associated with investing by using a transparent and empirical approach.
We engineer a portfolio for you that can enhance your return by taking advantage of what we know about capital markets rather than trying to predict the future or guess the next hot company. We know that investing in "hot stock picks" that everyone else is bidding up does not work. We know that over a period of time you will be compensated more by investing in smaller stocks and in stocks that are not "hot stock picks". We know that avoiding mutual fund sales loads and high fund management fees keeps your money where it belongsgrowing in your portfolio.
